Fort Knox TAP Center receives two awards for outstanding military transition service

FORT KNOX, Ky. — Key leaders from Fort Knox gathered at the Directorate of Human Resources conference room Sept. 28 to celebrate the outstanding service of the Fort Knox Transition Assistance Program.

Among the leaders was Brig. Gen. Adam Smith, the 64th Adjutant General of the U.S. Army, who awarded the TAP team and acknowledged how difficult the transition process can be for Soldiers.

“This is a task that every single Soldier is going to have to master as they go through it,” said Smith. “It’s the one task in the Army that we absolutely give no training for.”.

Smith praised the Civilian employees the Fort Knox TAP for their efforts to help a high number of Soldiers transition, even those transitioning from somewhere other than Fort Knox.

“It’s your team and teams like you, and our partners, that help us take care of Soldiers and ensure that we’re buying down risk; you’re setting everybody up for a smooth transition.

The two awards, given from the U.S. Army Human Resources Command’s Transition Branch, are a Certificate of Achievement for Small Installation Timeliness and a Certificate of Achievement for Small Installation Career Skills Program/SkillBridge.

“You guys are crushing it!” said Smith. “What you’re doing for our Soldiers, how you’re helping them navigate this transition, is setting them up for great success.”
